JAKARTA, INDONESIA, OCTOBER 25, 2022 – After successfully recycling 164,640 kg of waste in the last three months, Ninja Xpress and Kamibox are now demonstrating an eco-friendly spirit to Ninja Xpress customers by inviting them to send waste for recycling. From January 2023, Kamibox will collect waste from the shopping and selling operations of shippers in Jakarta and Tangerang. Besides earning money from the waste sales, shippers who manage to collect the most waste also have a chance to win an award from Ninja Xpress.
Andi Djoewarsa, the CMO of Ninja Xpress said, “To spread the spirit of eco-consciousness, Ninja Xpress is giving shippers the challenge to participate in collecting waste that Kamibox will pick up. Besides being recycled, the waste that has been collected will later be used as training materials for waste bank training for housewives at various locations in Jakarta. We hope that this challenge will motivate shippers to continue to sort and collect waste for recycling and take better care of the environment together.”
Waste-problem is still one of the most concerning issues in Indonesia. Jenna R. Jambeck, an academic and researcher at the University of Georgia in the United States, stated that Indonesia is the world’s second-largest contributor of plastic waste to the sea after China, with an estimated 0.48-1.29 million metric tons per year. Ironically, the waste discovered in the sea is primarily the product of human activities. Not to mention that the use of wrappers and bubble wraps for packaging is increasing as the popularity of online shopping grows.
The partnership of Ninja Xpress with Kamibox is expecting 20 shippers to participate and collect a minimum of 10,000 kilograms of waste during that period. Kamibox accepts cardboard, plastic, glass, metal, and crude oil. The shipper who collects the most waste will get money, vouchers, and even vacation packages.
Ninja Xpress’ collaboration with Kamibox since 2020 has collected up to 164,640 kg of cardboard waste and sacks for recycling. According to Kamibox data, this attempt is estimated to have contributed to:
● the rescue of over 405 trees,
● the reduction of approximately 404 tons of CO2 gas,
● the reduction of the needs of approximately 2.026 m3 of land in the landfill,
● the saving of approximately 907.318 kWh of energy, and
● up to 11,000 kilolitres of water.
